Wide Leg Tailored Pants

Wide-Leg Tailored Pants: Find Your Fabric, Colour and Length

The right wide-leg tailored pants should suit where you are going, coordinate with clothes you already own and finish correctly over your usual shoes. OGL offers different fabrics, colours and inseam lengths, so begin with function rather than choosing a style by appearance alone.

Choose the Fabric for Where You Will Wear It

Each fabric creates a different balance of structure, softness and seasonal comfort:

  • Textured Versatile Scuba: Smooth, stretchy and slightly substantial, this fabric holds a defined shape while allowing comfortable movement. Choose it for commuting, office days and occasions that call for a traditional tailored appearance.

  • Viscose Ponte Knit: Its structured drape, four-way stretch and shape recovery combine the clean look of tailoring with the flexibility of a knit. It is a practical choice for meetings, long workdays and polished everyday outfits.

  • Modal Spacer Knit: This double-knit fabric has a soft, peach-fuzz feel, a velvety matte surface and four-way stretch recovery. Its wrinkle-resistant finish makes it particularly useful for travel and busy city days.

  • Linen-Look Stretch Twill: This fabric provides the textured appearance of linen with a softer feel, comfortable stretch and a more structured twill surface. Choose it for warm-weather workwear, summer events and elevated casual dressing.

  • Lyocell-Wool Blend: Lightweight wool-blend styles are suited to cooler commutes, transitional weather and autumn or winter workdays.

Check the individual product page before buying, since fabric composition, weight and care instructions vary between styles.

Choose a Colour You Will Actually Wear

Instead of choosing the most striking shade first, consider which colour will work with the tops, jackets and shoes already in your wardrobe.

  • Core neutrals: Black, Navy, Deep Grey and Heather Black Grey are reliable choices for work and formal everyday dressing.

  • Warm neutrals: Cedar Brown, Hickory Brown, Walnut Brown and Deep Dry Olive pair naturally with cream, beige, olive and seasonal knitwear.

  • Light neutrals: White and Morning Mist create a lighter spring or summer look. Check the product details for lining; selected pale OGL trousers include lined shorts for additional coverage.

  • Soft colours: Light Navy, Arctic Mist Blue and Ambrosia introduce colour while remaining relatively easy to coordinate.

  • Statement shades: Ruby Red, Orange Red, Butter Cup Yellow and Purple Gloam make the trousers the focus of the outfit and work best with simpler tops.

If these are your first wide-leg tailored pants, begin with the neutral you wear most frequently. A brighter shade makes more sense once the basic combinations are already covered.

Choose Petite, Regular or Tall

OGL offers selected wide-leg tailored pants in three inseam lengths:

Length Inseam A Useful Starting Point
Petite 28 in / 71 cm Petite frames or women who mainly wear flats
Regular 30 in / 76 cm Average-height frames with loafers, flats or low heels
Tall 32 in / 81 cm Taller frames or outfits worn with heels and platform shoes

Height alone does not determine the correct length. Measure a pair of trousers that already falls well with your preferred shoes. Lay the trousers flat and measure from the crotch seam to the hem, then compare that measurement with the listed inseam.

Choose a length that approaches the top of the shoe without dragging on the floor. If you regularly alternate between trainers and heels, decide which footwear you are most likely to wear with these particular trousers. Not every OGL style is available in all three lengths, so confirm the options on the individual product page.

Match the Pants to the Occasion

Use the setting to bring the decisions together:

  • For work: Choose Textured Versatile Scuba or Viscose Ponte in Black, Navy or Deep Grey.

  • For travel: Look for Modal Spacer Knit, stretch and a comfortable waistband.

  • For warm weather: Try Linen-Look Stretch Twill in Morning Mist, Light Navy or a warm neutral.

  • For cooler days: Choose a Lyocell-Wool Blend in Smoky Navy, Dark Brunette or Rose Plum.

  • For day-to-evening dressing: Select Ponte or Spacer Knit with a clean drape, then adjust the outfit with shoes, jewellery or a jacket.

Start with the occasion, choose the fabric that suits it and select the inseam according to your measurements and shoes. Colour should complete the decision rather than lead it.
