National Women's Health and Fitness Day

National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is celebrated annually on the last Wednesday of September. This year falls on the 28th of September. It’s a special day dedicated to promoting health awareness and the importance of fitness for all women.

This year, we have coordinated a special campaign to promote women’s health. We gathered workout gurus, fitness instructors, skaters, and dancers in our OGL community to bring attention to the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women. As a brand with nearly 80% female employees and a client base made up entirely of women, we encourage women to take control of their health, learn the facts they need to make smart health decisions, and make time for exercise.

Tips for staying healthy

Your health is at the core of your life; it encompasses all aspects of who you are, including your mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social, and intellectual. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, health and fitness have never been so important. Having good health is directly related to leading a productive life. Simply put, without good health, you have nothing!

In celebration of National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, we offer the following tips for taking steps toward staying healthy:

Schedule an Annual Wellness Exam

Stay on top of your regular wellness checks is crucial. You’re missing out on a major chance to product your long-term health if you only visit the doctor when you’re feeling under the weather. An annual visit allows you to be proactive in the prevention and early detection of women’s health. We encourage you to put this into your calendar, make time for your health.

Exercise

Women who exercise regularly typically have healthier blood pressure and cholesterol levels as well as a lower chance of significant chronic conditions including dementia, diabetes, and heart disease. Finding the time for 30-60 minutes of physical activity a day can help you sleep better and give you more energy. Exercise also helps alleviate symptoms of depression.

Try Out a NEW Sport!

Trying new things is optimal for growth, and sports are the same. With all kinds of activities out there, it’s sure there’s at least one fitness activity you’re interested in trying out: ranging from boxing to swimming, from boot camps to Pilates. So why not dip your toe into trying a new sport? According to science, trying out a new sport is proven to be extremely beneficial for both your body and mind!

Manage Stress

We all hate stress, but the reality is stress is inevitable. Stress can do some serious damage to the female body. Sometimes it can cause sleeping trouble, weaken the immune system, and can lead to headaches, depression, anxiety, heart problem, and so much more. There are many ways to manage stress, we recommend meditation, breathing, therapy, and exercise. Finding what works for you is most important.
